What is a change order?

Changes to the work to be performed specified by a contract are made via a written change order request, which becomes part of said contract. All owner initiated change orders, even deletions, cost money: Adjustments to the total price as a result of deleted work will be reduced by a reasonable administration fee; Adjustments to the total price as a result of changed work will include a reasonable administration fee. The owner is responsible for any non-returnable materials and any restocking fees and the like that arise from deleted or changed work. The substantial completion date will be adjusted for each change order. The total price for said contract will be adjusted for each change order. Any such adjustment will be invoiced as the change is implemented and will be due on receipt.
