Why build a timber frame structure?

There's only one reason to build a timber frame structure: It's neat to look at. (They are.) Timber frame structures always cost more money than the equivalent stick framed structure. (Aesthetics are a fine thing to spend money on.)

Note that this is not an either-or situation: Timber frame techniques can be mixed matched with stick frame techniques to create architectural highlights where you want them and lower costs where you don't. Please, feel free to brainstorm with us . . .
